Mike Pompeo alleges Iran sheltering al-Qaeda; confirms death of group's second-in-line

Washington [US], January 13: US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo on Tuesday (neighborhood time) blamed Iran for protecting al-Qaeda attesting that the center eastern nation has gotten another "headquarters" for the fear outfit. He likewise affirmed that Al-Qaeda's second-in-order Abu Muhammad al-Masri was killed in Tehran a year ago. 

In a discourse at the National Press Club here, Pompeo said that al-Qaeda has "another headquarters - it is the Islamic Republic of Iran". 

He stated, "We disregarded this Iran-al-Qaeda nexus at our own danger. We need to recognize it, we should stand up to it, without a doubt, we should overcome it." 

He further stated, "They are accomplices in illegal intimidation, accomplices in scorn. This hub represents a grave danger to the security of countries and to the American country itself."
