India strongly condemns vandalisation of Mahatma Gandhi statue in US

New Delhi [India], January 30: India on Saturday emphatically censured the vandalisation of Mahatma Gandhi's sculpture in Davis, California, US. 

In a proclamation, the Ministry of External Affairs said the Government of India firmly censures the malevolent and contemptible act against a generally regarded symbol of harmony and equity. 

A sculpture of Mahatma Gandhi was vandalized by obscure people at Central Park in the City of Davis, California. It was a blessing to the City of Davis by the Government of India in 2016. 

The Indian consulate has taken up the issue with the US Department of State for a careful examination concerning the occurrence and proper activity against those dependable, the assertion further said. 

In the interim, the Consulate General of India in San Francisco Dr T V Nagendra Prasad has independently taken up the issue with the City of Davis and neighborhood law requirement specialists. 

The Mayor of Davis profoundly lamented the occurrence and educated that they have started an examination, said the explanation. 

The US Department of State has passed on that this destructive incident is unsuitable and communicated the expectation that culprits will be dealt with as fast as could really be expected. 

Neighborhood Indian people group associations have likewise censured the destructive incident.
