Pak's assertion in SRO doesn't mean it admits to presence of listed individuals: MEA

New Delhi [India], Aug 27 (ANI): Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday said that Pakistan's assertion in SRO (Statutory Regulatory Order) does not mean it admits to the presence of listed individuals or that it will impose measures on them.

Speaking at a virtual press briefing earlier today, Anurag Srivastava, MEA Spokesperson, said that the denial by the Pakistan Foreign Office on the presence of Dawood Ibrahim in their country questions their intentions and it would not mislead the world community in believing its propaganda.

"Pakistan's assertion that the SRO does not mean that it admits to the presence of listed individuals on its territory or that it would impose any new measures on these listed individuals, lays bare the insincerity of Pakistan in responding to legitimate expectations of the world that they will track down international terrorists based on its soil. Pakistan has not only maintained its opposition to this international consensus but it has also chosen not to act against them," said Srivastava.

He further said that Pakistan has never taken any credible and verifiable action against terror entities or listed individuals, including the most wanted ones.
"This subsequent denial by their Foreign Office calls into question their intentions and it would not mislead the world community in believing its propaganda. Pakistan must take credible action and ensure that the listed individuals are prosecuted," he added.

After years of Pakistan denying that it has sheltered Dawood, responsible for the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, along with other terrorists, it has finally accepted that he is living in Karachi.

Dawood Ibrahim is wanted in India to face the law of the land for carrying out serial blasts in Mumbai in 1993 in which scores of people were killed and injured. India has asked Pakistan several times to hand over Dawood Ibrahim.

The document that revealed Dawood's location was related to a list of 88 terrorists that were sanctioned by the Pakistan government. His address on the document is White House, Karachi. (ANI)

Abhishek Bhalerao. (Photo: ANI)

New Delhi [India], Aug 27 (ANI/India PR Distribution): Actor Abhishek Bhalerao riding high on the success of his third Netflix project titled Class of 83 starring Bobby Deol which trends at No.1 on Netflix India after releasing on 21st Aug 2020 have another release on the same platform in a gap of just seven days. The title of his next series is Masaba Masaba starring Neena Gupta and designer Masaba Gupta making her acting debut. This will be his fourth project on Netflix.

Abhishek Bhalerao is really happy with the back to back release on Netflix and had started working towards achieving this feat since January 2019. With four Netflix projects in a span of fifteen months his actor colleagues tease him by addressing him as 'Male Radhika Apte'. Abhishek Bhalerao says," It's their way of cheering me and of course actress Radhika Apte had so many Netflix releases in a leading role while he plays supporting actor in his projects so the levels are different as well as the vast difference in the skills and experiences."

Abhishek Bhalerao praises the women he worked within Masaba Masaba saying," It's a very special series for me because all the departments are headed by these amazing self-made women to whom everyone should look up to." He addresses them as "Queens" and further adds," The series stars queens Neena Gupta ji & designer Masaba Gupta who makes her acting debut but already looks like a seasoned actress in the trailer, it is directed by the cool director Sonam Nair, it is produced by Ashvini Yardi ma'am (my second project with her first being Chopsticks) even the casting director is the amazing Panchami Ghavri".

Abhishek Bhalerao felt the whole project was efficiently executed and it was an amazing experience working under an All-women leadership which would not be possible again for a long time given the pandemic situation. While encouraging more women to wear director's hat the actor further expresses his wish to be part of many such women-directed projects for refreshing and unbiased storytelling without any toxic masculinity, which would only change the whole system in a positive way give more screen time and dialogues for women along with good roles written for them.

He wishes to finance projects of women writers and directors and would be happy to take up roles which any male actor says no to, the roles that those male actors think that the character shows them "a weak man" or "not man enough" as per their 'dictionary' meaning, but the character could be a supporter of women or respects women and understands their everyday issues.

He strongly adds, "When a series like Masaba Masaba made by such amazing women gets a release on Netflix, it is expected from people to watch and encourage the creators of such good content, otherwise the audience don't have the right to complain that there are so less women in direction, women don't get properly written lead roles with not enough screen time, even women who are Producers are so less in numbers, well it is you the audience who can make a difference by watching such content and you will automatically see more content created by such ensemble of women as producers, directors, writers and leading actresses. Masaba Masaba will be releasing on Netflix on 28th August, please do watch it."

New Delhi [India], Aug 27 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Thursday declined to pass orders to allow mourning processions across the country during Muharram while observing that it will lead to chaos and the targeting of a particular community for spreading COVID-19.

Real Estate Sector Witnesses Improved Market Sentiments in Unlock Phase

AlphaCorp, GurgaonOne, Sector 84 located at the heart of New Gurugram adjacent to Dwarka Expressway

New Delhi [India], Aug 27 (ANI/NewsVoir): The pervasive impact of the COVID-19 pandemic is evident on real estate through stalled deals, halt in sales, and delay in launches. As India enters Unlock 4.0, the restarting of economic activity and push by the government through various initiatives have set the pace for boosting demand and sales in the real estate sector.

"The real estate sector was already hit by the market slowdown. It was expected that it would take longer to return to normalcy, but with the revision in interest rates and a few favourable government policies, the market has already started reviving and the demand graph is trending upwards. The construction works have also resumed in order to deliver the projects as per the given timelines. Homebuyers are more conscious now to invest in a property with assured safety, to live a sustainable life. The rise in the housing demand for Tier-II cities can be seen because of affordability and better growth prospects." says Ashish Sarin, CEO, AlphaCorp.

It is expected that the pent-up demand in the residential sector will give a fillip to sales especially of ready-to-move-in and near-completion properties in the post-COVID-19 scenario. In the commercial segment, co-living and office spaces are likely to lead to recovery. In the logistics and warehousing sectors, supply contraction in the sector will lead to a dip in vacancies and better pricing.

Mohit Goel, CEO, Omaxe Ltd. says "The enquiries and sales in the real estate sector are picking up post-lockdown albeit some shift in demand and preference of homebuyers. The developers' agility to adapt to this new demand is the key to the quick recovery of the sector. The RBI's liquidity support has been helpful but it is pertinent that measures to shore up demand must be taken. Being an end-user driven market, the demand has picked up faster in 2/3 cities due to a host of reasons like government's industry and infrastructure push, corporates looking for cheap real estate and skilled workforce that are staying back or returning and higher capital appreciation. In the commercial segment, organised retail with 2-3 years delivery timeline is showing a lot of demand from investors and retailers."

Expressing views on traction picked up by the office space market, Ashish Arora, Director-Distribution, Viridian RED, says, "Real estate market sentiments have gradually improved during the unlock period. Decision-making processes and deals which were put on hold due to the lockdown have been resumed now. In the last couple of months, India's office space market has witnessed few of the key transactions led by global firms which have brought much-needed breather to the sector. Despite the hurdles created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the commercial realty segment has an optimistic future. Backed with affordable rentals, the abundance of skilled and low-cost talent, increased interest of investors towards REIT would augment the growth of the commercial realty sector."

The COVID-19 crisis is also expected to redefine certain trends in real estate. The lockdown witnessed players leveraging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality to enhance the consumer experience.

Amarjit Bakshi, CMD, Central Park explains, "There has been a revival in demand through increasing footfalls and sales. We have also seen an increase in unique visitors on our website and have been witnessing an increase in queries for various assets within our township. There is so much latent demand for real estate, that we have started reviving the sales impetus. There has been a comparative upsurge in sales in the third quarter of 2020 largely influenced by the investor segment. As more and more investors are finding the equity market volatile, they are skewing towards prime real estate investments from reputed builders. COVID-19 has invariably renewed focus on developers with a strong track record and penchant for style and design. There is still caution against launching new projects but hopefully, we will see new zest in the coming festive season."

Going forward, we foresee an extensive use of technology to offer curated experiences. The overall concern towards hygiene, health, and wellness measures will inevitably benefit real estate players with sound credentials and an enviable track record.

Earlier, Rhea and her brother Showik Chakraborty were also questioned by the ED regarding the case.

On August 21, the ED had recorded the statement of Rajput's sister Priyanka, who is a nominee in the late actor's bank account, the officials said.

The Central probe agency had previously recorded the statement of KK Singh, father of Sushant Singh Rajput, in the national capital.

SpringRole Joins Matic Developer Support Program, offers USD 250K boost to blockchain cos

SpringRole joins Matic Developer Support Program. (ANI)

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India] Aug 27 (ANI/Mediawire): SpringRole's parent company Springworks has partnered with Matic to offer its support to blockchain companies and developers as part of Matic's Developer Support Program (DSP).

Springworks, the maker of SpringRole (blockchain-powered, verified professional platform) is an HR Tech company based in Santa Monica, California, and Bengaluru, India.

The company specializes in creating cutting edge software tools for the HR function with a global client base of over 1000 businesses.

Matic Network is a Layer 2 scaling solution backed by Binance and Coinbase that is providing a generalized Layer 2 platform, enabling Ethereum developers to scale their DApps for large-scale usage.

For the initial phase, Matic has launched a hybrid PoS+Plasma sidechain on top of Ethereum which is already gaining huge traction, making Matic one of the fastest-growing Decentralized Application (DApp) platforms in the space.

Matic believes the answer to enabling widespread adoption of blockchain technology lies with second-layer solutions focused on scalability.

Matic launched its Developer Support Program (DSP) in 2019 with a USD 5 million fund. This fund will be utilized to support DApps and other Decentralized Finance (DeFi)/Ecosystem projects that are accepted to the program.

"With the large influx of decentralized projects, it is important to support founders who are working towards solving real-world problems using blockchain technology. As a young startup ourselves, we've been through our share of challenges raising funds. We've been fortunate in overcoming those challenges and with DSP are looking to help other entrepreneurs in the space," said Sandeep Nailwal, Co-Founder & COO, Matic. So far, Matic has released funds over USD one million to support DApps.

Springworks is extending its support to the fund by granting eligible projects access to its full-stack HR product suite covering all aspects of the HR function from recruiting to background verification to employee engagement.

"Finding the right talent is the key to building next-generation products and services. These individuals not only have to be extremely skilled but also have to have an immense passion for building future technologies. It's like finding a needle in a haystack," said Kartik Mandaville, Springworks CEO.

Springworks is also betting big on employee engagement. "With remote work being the new normal, it is imperative for businesses to keep employees engaged. Startups can't afford to not get this right as engagement is a key component to retaining talent. We built SpringEngage and Trivia to address these issues internally and before we knew it, multiple companies expressed interest in using these products to keep their workforces engaged," he said. Both products are currently available on Slack, MS Teams and Google Chat.

Kartik, who is no stranger to the blockchain community, launched SpringRole in 2018. "For any blockchain startup, access to great talent and partnerships is the key to success. Blockchain is the future, but it also requires time for adoption and the transition to becoming mainstream has to come by way of existing products. That is something we at Springworks have done well. All our products have been built to service the needs of our customers while incorporating the benefits of blockchain technology over time. We've seen great adoption with this strategy and fully expect that other projects will see success with a similar approach," he said when asked about the partnership.

"As a company, we felt it was important to give back to the community based on our learnings and our HR stack is perfect for any new founder to achieve rapid scale.
Matic has been supportive of the developer community and given our continued association with them, this was a no-brainer for us," he added.

The total value of the commitment from Springworks exceeds USD 250,000 in the form of both discounted and free services that cover critical aspects for any new business - recruiting, background verification, and post-hire engagement.

TikTok CEO Kevin Mayer Resign Amid Lawsuit Against Donald Trump Administration

Representative Image

San Francisco, Aug 27 (ANI): TikTok CEO Kevin Mayer has put in his resignation, months after taking over as chief executive of Chinese-video sharing app.

"It is with a heavy heart that I wanted to let you all know that I have decided to leave the company," Mayer said in an email to employees according to the New York Times.

Mayer's move comes amid enormous backlash and threats of a ban on ByteDance the parent company of TikTok, from US President Donald Trump
"In recent weeks, as the political environment has sharply changed, I have done significant reflection on what the corporate structural changes will require, and what it means for the global role I signed up for," Mayer wrote in an email to the employees, reported the New York Times.

Vanessa Pappas, general manager of TikTok in North America, will take over as interim global head of the company.

TikTok, in an emailed statement, confirmed the departure and said that the political dynamics of the last few months had "significantly changed" the scope of Mayer's role.

ByteDance's founder and CEO Yiming Zhang said in a separate letter that the company was "moving quickly to find resolutions to the issues that we face globally, particularly in the U.S. and India."

The development comes days after TikTok sued the Trump administration over an executive order banning transactions in the United States with the popular short-form video-sharing app.

On August 6, Trump signed an executive order banning any US transactions with ByteDance, set to take effect in 45 days. On August 14, the US President issued another executive order, requiring ByteDance to divest its interests in TikTok's operations in the US within 90 days. (ANI)

US government sends security officers to Kenosha after deadly shootings during riots

Representative Image

Washington D.C. [US], August 27 (ANI/Sputnik): US federal and Wisconsin state authorities announced on Wednesday that hundreds of additional security personnel will be deployed to the city of Kenosha after protests against police brutality escalated into riots with gun violence resulting in the death of two people.

Kenosha, home to some 100,000 people, has experienced riots for three straight nights after police officers shot and severally wounded African American men Jacob Blake over the weekend that made the city yet another focal point for the Black Lives Matter movement and associated organizations.

Earlier on Wednesday, President Donald Trump said that Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers agreed to accept the US government's assistance and federal law enforcement agents to be deployed to Kenosha. Evers issued a statement saying that 500 members of the Wisconsin National Guard will be deployed in the city in addition to the 250 he authorized earlier.

Kenosha authorities, who asked for 1,500 officers, hailed the reinforcements after local forces encountered looting, arson, Molotov cocktails and other manifestations of violence.

"The good people of Kenosha want them here," officials said during a press briefing, adding that the federal contingent and National Guard forces are already present in the city where a curfew will be in effect from 7:00 p.m. Wednesday to 7:00 a.m. Thursday.

The reinforcements are coming to Kenosha after two people were killed and at least one other was seriously injured On Tuesday night in a shooting described by media as a vigilante incident. The suspect, a 17-year-old male, was arrested several hours later in the neighboring state of Illinois and is charged with first-degree murder.

Kenosha officials denied any detailed knowledge of the shooting, including the suspect's name, and refused to speculate whether he belonged to white-armed militias which reportedly came to the city to confront Black Lives Matter and other leftist protesters.

"No, I don't want more guns out in the street in the community when we are trying to make sure that we keep people safe," Kenosha mayor John Antaramian told reporters about his attitude to the presence of vigilante militias. (ANI/Sputnik)

London [UK], Aug 27 (ANI): Sri Lanka's Foreign Secretary Jayanath Colombage has said that Sri Lanka will always have an India-first approach as far as strategic security is concerned.

In an interview with Daily Mirror, Colombage also said Sri Lanka will not do anything harmful to India's strategic security interests.

"China is the second-largest economy in the world and India is considered the sixth-largest. In 2018, India was the world's fastest-growing economy. That means we are between two economic giants. How we benefit from both is diplomacy or art. That is why the President mentioned that as far as strategic security is concerned, Sri Lanka will always have an India-first approach," he said.

"That means Sri Lanka will not do anything harmful to India's strategic security interests. As far as economic development is concerned, we cannot depend on one country. We are open to anyone. We know China is one country willing to invest and develop. They have the capacity to do it. We have to benefit from it. We have to balance," he added.

Referring to the agreement to jointly develop the East Container Terminal at the Colombo Port, he said an MoU was signed between India, Sri Lanka and Japan.

He said the President is committed to honouring it. "The only thing is that there is opposition to it from port workers. The president, the chairman of Sri Lanka Ports Authority and other stakeholders are studying it thoroughly. They will find a solution. India has a solid argument on this," he said.

He said that 38-40 per cent of trans shipment containers handled by Sri Lanka arrive from India.

"About 70 per cent of businesses we handle are from India. Colombo port is the second biggest port for Indian containers after Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust in Mumbai," he said.

He also said that as per the new guidance from President, no national asset "is given with total control to any country".

"It means at least 51 per cent of the stake will always remain with the GoSL, and the balance can be divided," Colombage said.

"In 2015, India feared that we had moved towards China too much. Probably, India wanted that regime to be changed. India was happy that the regime was changed. What happened afterwards made India happy. We actually made India jittery during the period between 2015 and 2019. But India is comfortable with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa," he added. (ANI)

Presence of Pakistani ISIS cadres in Syria revealed

Islamabad [Pakistan], Aug 27 (ANI): The United States backed Syrian Democratic Forces have shared a list of 29 Pakistanis who are in their custody for fighting for the ISIS, according to media reports.

As per the list, as many as nine Pakistani ISIS cadres are women, of whom three have the citizenship of either Turkey or Sudan.

Among the men, one has the citizenship of Canada.

This report has surfaced amid Pakistan's recent attempts to avoid a demotion from the Financial Action Task Force's (FATF) grey list to the blacklist during the upcoming October plenary meeting.

Pakistan on Friday imposed sanctions on more than 88 terrorists associated with different terrorist groups, including Daesh, al-Qaida, and Taliban, Pakistan media reported.

Pakistan has been on the grey list in 2008, 2012 and 2015 as well.

Pakistan is in the grey list since June 2018 and the government had given a final warning in February to complete the remaining action points by June 2020. The FATF extended the June deadline to September due to the spread of coronavirus that disrupted the FATF plenary meetings.

While Pakistan tries to showcase its 'efforts' in combatting terrorism, there have been reports from Afghanistan giving ample evidence of the presence of Pakistani terrorists on its land.

After an attack on Afghanistan's Jalalabad prison, there have been speculations that prisoners who escaped were mostly captured Taliban terrorists both from Afghanistan and Pakistan.

On August 1, Former Afghan intelligence chief Rahmatullah Nabil had termed agents of Pakistani spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) as "termites" who are destroying the Afghanistan system stating they pose serious threats to the country and should be confronted.

Nabil, speaking at the press conference, was quoted as saying by the Tolo News, "There are termites which are destroying the system. The ISI (Pakistani military intelligence) agents in the system must be confronted." (ANI)

Republicans strike patriotic chord, hail Trump support for military at convention

Washington D.C. [US], August 27 (ANI/Sputnik): The Republicans opened the third night of their convention with a series of speeches by veterans and officials including vice presidential National Security adviser Keith Kellogg who drove home the theme that President Donald Trump supports the military and is more patriotic than the rival party.

Later in the evening, Vice President Mike Pence later will deliver his keynote remarks from Fort McHenry in Baltimore, where the American national anthem was inspired during the War of 1812, in a bid to strike a patriotic chord on the third night of the Republican National Convention (RNC).

Early on, speakers highlighted Trump's support for the US military including via boosting funding and success against the Islamic State terrorist group and aggressive actions towards Iran.

However, Kellogg during his remarks also said Trump is not a war hawk and prefers peace.

The RNC is expected to honor active-duty US military troops, veterans and law enforcement as part of the patriotic-themed night.

Pence later is expected to make a case for reelecting Trump and draw contrast with Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

Other speakers include the Vice President's wife Karen Pence, outgoing White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, Senator Marsha Blackburn and Senator Joni Ernst.

Former US national intelligence director and ambassador to Germany, Richard Grenell, is also slated to speak.

The convention began at 8:30 p.m. EST (12:30 GMT on Thursday) and will last until about 11:00 p.m.

Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris is expected to give a rebuttal after the RNC.

On Tuesday, the Republicans hammered Joe Biden for his support of wars and reached out to immigrants. Key speakers included President Trump's wife Melania and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. On Monday, the RNC focused on Trump's economic plan, handling of the COVID-19 crisis and law enforcement with Donald Trump Jr. and former ambassador Nikki Haley as the main speakers.

The RNC kicked off in Charlotte, North Carolina on Monday, but has been a combination of virtual recordings and live segments. Trump has appeared on both nights in live shots from the White House. Melania delivered Tuesday night's speech on the White House lawn before a crowd of family, friends and administration officials and other personnel.

Trump, who was formally nominated on Monday, is scheduled to give his acceptance speech on the south lawn of the White House on Thursday, the fourth and final night of the Republican convention. (ANI/Sputnik)

UK PM okays wearing masks in school corridors, not in classrooms

London [UK], August 27 (ANI/Sputnik): UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Wednesday that it is okay to make pupils and staff wear masks in school corridors but not in classrooms, after the government abandoned its advice that children should not wear face coverings in England's secondary schools.

"What we are saying is if you are in a school where there is a 'hotspot' then it probably does make sense in confined areas outside the classroom to use a face covering in the corridor and elsewhere," Johnson said during a visit to a school in the English city of Leicestershire.

He added, however, that it would be "clearly nonsensical" to impose the use masks while the students are in the classroom.

"But not in the classrooms because that is clearly nonsensical -- you cannot teach with face coverings, you cannot expect people to learn with face coverings," Johnson stressed.

The Prime Minister's remarks came after his government made a U-turn on Tuesday evening and announced that secondary school students will have to wear face masks in communal areas and corridors when classes are resumed next week.

The new guidance will only apply for schools located in towns and cities subject to stricter social distancing restrictions because of local coronavirus outbreaks, since the government left its use in the rest of the schools to the discretion of headteachers.

Johnson suggested on Wednesday that the change was influenced by the experience of pupils in Scotland, whose government made the use of face coverings compulsory for secondary school students since classes were resumed two weeks ago.

"What they found (in Scotland) was that it was raining outside, people were coming in and they were congregating in the corridors and the move to face coverings they thought was sensible," he said.

During his visit to the Castle Rock school in Leicestershire, the Prime Minister said the government was following the latest advice from the World Health Organisation, which on August 21 stated that children aged 12 and over should wear a mask under the same conditions as adults, in particular, when they cannot guarantee at least one-metre distance from others and there is widespread transmission in the area. China fires 2 missiles into South China Sea to 'warn' US

Representative Image

Beijing [China], Aug 26 (ANI): China on Wednesday fired two missiles including an "aircraft-carrier killer" into the South China Sea as an act of "warning" to the United States after a US spy plane allegedly intruded into its army's no-fly airspace, a source close to the Chinese military told the South China Morning Post.

On Tuesday, the Chinese Defense Ministry had alleged that a US Air Force RC-135S reconnaissance aircraft flew across the South China Sea during the Chinese military drill entered a restricted airspace.

"This is China's response to the potential risks brought by the increasingly frequent incoming US warplanes and military vessels in the South China Sea," the source was quoted as saying. "China doesn't want the neighbouring countries to misunderstand Beijing's goals."

South China Morning Post reported that one of the missiles, a DF-26B, was launched from the northwestern province of Qinghai, while the other, a DF-21D, lifted off from Zhejiang province in the east. Both were fired into an area between Hainan province and the Paracel Islands, the source said. (ANI)
