Delhi Minority Commission chairman Zafarul Islam Khan booked for sedition over social media post

New Delhi: The Special Cell of Delhi Police has enrolled an instance of dissidence against Chairman of Delhi Minority Commission Zafarul Islam Khan for a disputable web-based media post, an official said on Saturday. 

The FIR was enlisted against Khan on 30 April under segment 124 A (subversion) and 153 A (advancing ill will between various gatherings on grounds of religion, race, spot of birth) after police got an objection by an inhabitant of Vasant Kunj. 

In the FIR, the complainant claimed that Khan's post was "provocative", "conscious" and rebellious and proposed to cause disharmony and make a fracture in the general public, police stated, adding that the case is being examined by the digital cell. 

The comments were posted by Khan on Tuesday yet erased after at some point. Afterward, Khan additionally looked for an expression of remorse while the BJP requested his expulsion from the commission. 

"I understand that my tweet was badly coordinated and uncaring considering our district confronting a health related crisis and battling an inconspicuous foe. I am sorry to every one of whose feelings were harmed," Khan said in an assertion. 

He said that his tweet on 28 April, expressing gratitude toward Kuwait for observing the "abuse" of Indian Muslims, with regards to the upper east Delhi brutality, has "tormented" a few people which was never his expectation.
