2 children killed in gas pipeline explosion in southern Iraq

Baghdad [Iraq], October 31 (ANI/Xinhua): Two Childrens were killed and 28 individuals harmed in a gas pipeline blast in southern Iraq, the Iraqi military and an oil official said on Saturday.

The episode occurred when a gas pipeline exploded close to the 44th Brigade of the paramilitary Hashd Shaabi at al-Najmi region in Muthanna area in the south of Baghdad, the media office of the Joint Operations Command (JPC) said in an announcement.

The impact left two kids executed and 28 individuals injured, including nine Hashd Shaabi individuals, the JOC articulation said.

"The reason for the blast has not been known at this point, however firemen are proceeding to control the fire," the announcement added.

In the interim, Iraqi Deputy Oil Minister Hamid Younis affirmed in an explanation that the episode occurred in the early hours of the day and that the gas pipeline conveys gas from Basra to Baghdad to take care of some force stations in focal Iraq.

The oil service's groups have figured out how to control the fire and are attempting to supplant the harmed pieces of the pipeline to continue siphoning the gas during the coming hours, Younis stated, adding that the service has dispatched an examination concerning the episode. (ANI/Xinhua)
